Congratulations to the Rutland Raiders team – the only ‘club’ team taking part in the Ladies National Team Racing Championships down at Spinnaker Club in the New Forest this weekend. The team who were, for the first time, able to practice before taking part ( thanks to the new club fireflies – courtesy of Sport England, and the generosity of some of our corporate members) put on a fine show finishing 5th overall.
The team were a mix of age and beauty. The 3 helms had the dubious honour of being double the age of any other team and the fantastic crews were the youngest at the event and certainly amongst the best there. The team, made up of Hannah Stowe, Elysia Dooley, Lori Hodson, Kit Stenhouse, Sarah Kemp and Fiona Tylecote were not easily missed as they sported their ‘Where’s Wally ?’ like ‘Little Miss Giggle’ T shirts ( see the photo!).
The second event in the Laser Series (Laser2 on the club racing programme) will now be held a week earlier than originally shown - i.e. it will be on Sunday 14th April to prevent the clash with the Laser Masters event which is at Rutland on the 20/21st April....
This might seem like a funny story but it does go to show how
careful you need to be these days….
The manager was
in the upstairs training room catching up with some work when he happened to
look out of the window to see a trailer being towed out of the gate.It looked remarkably like one owned by some friends of his. The Waterfront Manager also saw what happened and the two chaps
quickly ascertained that the trailer that had left the site was indeed the one they suspected it was.
A quick look at the gate system showed that just one member had entered the site that day and we were not aware of having admitted any visitors except for delivery vans.
A westerly force 3-4 and a balmy 4 degrees brought 10
LWLers out today, and what a day!Graham
wanted to do what we had been doing on Tuesday; one ofus going with him in the rib to watch and then swapping
into different boats.For those
who had already done that, Graham thought we might be abit bored.Bored?
Certainly not! It was the best wind we have had for ages and I thought it was fantastic!
